Welcome to my blog!

Hello and thanks for stopping by! I'm a mama to my two sweet kiddos, Adalyn who is 2 and my new baby boy Mason. I started blogging after Adalyn was born as a way to write down memories for her to be able to look back at and ended up printing my first year's blog into a book so my babies have their childhood memories documented forever. By day, I'm a physical therapist. By night and weekend, I'm a loving wife to my husband Scott and a totally in love mama to my dear babies and the center of my world, Adalyn Rose and Mason Scott, along with our two furbabies. When I found out I was pregnant I knew I would "try" breastfeeding. Now that they are here, I'm a breastfeeding, babywearing, extended rearfacing, part-time co-sleeping, babyfood making, constantly researching mama. Some people call it crunchy... I call it living better for them... A little at a time! And this is our story...

Mason's 2 month update

Well, I'm finally getting around to this little update, albeit a week late. We spent Mason's 2 month birthday at the beach (more on that in my next post) and had his 2 month check-up with the pediatrician earlier this week. My sweet little (big?) man is up another 2+ inches and nearly 3 pounds since his last month's well visit. He's growing like a weed with miracle grow.... or with good old fashioned breast milk, you decide!

This past month has been so fun! Around 6 weeks Mason started smiling and I must say it is one of the sweetest smiles I have ever laid eyes on. A week or so later and I realized I have one talkative little guy. He will coo and try to imitate when I talk to him, and it makes me giggle every time he does. He is just so sweet and I cannot get enough of him!

He doesn't have much interest in a pacifier but man, oh man, is he trying desperately to get his thumb into his mouth and he's working tirelessly to get it to stay there for any decent amount of time. Little man is also improving his sleeping habits with anywhere from 6-9 hours at a night without waking up. Mama is doing a happy dance on the inside for this!!!! He does occasionally have some frustrating days where he doesn't want to nap during the day unless he is being held but I try to remind myself that anything around the house that "needs" done can wait, for soon he will be bigger and older and not want to be snoozing to the beat of my heart. This doesn't occur regularly though, as I'm typing this he's in the middle of a 2 hour snooze session.

As far as other Mason developments, I have caught him laying nearly on his belly after being placed on his back... his arm the only thing blocking him from completely rolling over. He's starting to watch the dogs and his sister intently when they are in close range and is overall even more of a pleasant baby than his big sister was (and I thought she was a phenomenally happy baby....) I'm counting my lucky stars in that respect! As far as nicknames... It's only appropriate since Adalyn was "Baby Bear" that Mason has quickly taken on the roll of Brother Bear... although most of the time it's pronounced "Brudder Bear" in Adalyn language. He's also occasionally Monster bear, Mason Moose, Mase Moo, Mase, Mason Man... we've got quite a few.

I'm falling in love more and more each day. Watching him smile and try to talk just melts me instantly. Oh, those gummy smiles......... I turn to mush just thinking about them as I write this. It still amazes me how instantly you fall in love with these little creatures and how in as little as 2 months I cannot imagine my life without him, and cannot imagine feeling more complete than I do now that he is here.

Mason Man.... You are my little man, my big boy, my sunshine. The past two months have been incredible just to be able to spend so much time loving on you and falling ever so deeply in love with you. You and your sister are my world. I'm so lucky to get to be your mommy, sweet little guy. I love you!
To the Moon and Back,
Mommy
