Welcome to my blog!

Hello and thanks for stopping by! I'm a mama to my two sweet kiddos, Adalyn who is 2 and my new baby boy Mason. I started blogging after Adalyn was born as a way to write down memories for her to be able to look back at and ended up printing my first year's blog into a book so my babies have their childhood memories documented forever. By day, I'm a physical therapist. By night and weekend, I'm a loving wife to my husband Scott and a totally in love mama to my dear babies and the center of my world, Adalyn Rose and Mason Scott, along with our two furbabies. When I found out I was pregnant I knew I would "try" breastfeeding. Now that they are here, I'm a breastfeeding, babywearing, extended rearfacing, part-time co-sleeping, babyfood making, constantly researching mama. Some people call it crunchy... I call it living better for them... A little at a time! And this is our story...

Adalyn's 9 month letter...

My dear little girl,

I can't believe how quickly the days go between these letters. I feel like just a moment ago I was writing you your eight month letter, and here we are nine months after the happiest day of my life!

You have been busy the past weeks!! You have officially become mobile! For a few weeks you were getting into plank position and onto your hands and knees. Once there you would rock and whine because you couldn't quite figure out how to get your legs to move you forward, so you would plop on your belly back onto the floor. Two weeks ago during this routine I placed my cellphone on the floor and off you went... crawling! It's funny what motivates you! You seem to love electronics... cell phones, the lap top, the remote control! Anyway, ever since that day you have been on the go. In only two short weeks, you are now crawling all around the house and at an ever increasing rate of speed! The dogs aren't sure what to think of this! It has become a constant task to keep you away from their toys and the dogs away from your toys! It's so cute to watch you crawl around the coffee table trying to catch your puppies.

At your nine month pediatrician appointment you measured in at exactly 19 pounds and 29.5 inches long! You continue to be one of the happiest babies I have ever met. You haven't entered the stranger danger phase yet and are typically smiling and waving at everyone you meet. You love to wave at yourself in the mirror, the fireplace and the oven door... anywhere you can see your reflection instantly causes you to screech and squeal in delight!

You've had the chance to play with a lot of babies lately your own age and it is so neat to see you interacting with them! You continue to adore Charlotte and get to play with JoElle at the babysitter's house. Your cousin Anya and second cousin Kaylee have also been great playmates for you recently.

Daddy and I are so excited about the summer ahead. We can't wait to spend time outside with you. It's been a long winter and a cold spring and we haven't had much opportunity with the weather to do fun things outside. You have begun to enjoy your after dinner walks with us and the puppies, visiting the swings at the park, and playing in the yard. We can't wait to get you swimming at the lake, on vacation to the beach and we have even started planning your first birthday bash at the end of the summer!

My favorite thing you learned this month is your kissing. When asked for a kiss you now lean in with a slobbery open-mouth kiss on the lips. I never knew such a sloppy wet kiss could make swoon the way those do. Your vocabulary includes da-da, ma-ma, blah-blah and twice today we swear we heard na-na! Your nana, of course, was ecstatic about that!

You have started to eat (well, mush) table food more often. Despite still being toothless at nine months old, you have enjoyed macaroni and cheese, spaghetti, rice, pasta, baked beans, mashed potatoes, corn, stuffing, chicken, bananas, cheerios and a few other table foods cut into teeny tiny pieces. You are so proud when you feed yourself. It's often a very messy activity (we have pictures to prove this!) but it's so much fun to watch you do something on your own that makes you so excited!

It's been a busy month, Adalyn. You've grown and learned so much. I can only imagine what I will be writing about in another month. What amazing, silly, crazy and scary things will you learn by then? You always keep us guessing. Your Daddy and I have been completed by you becoming part of our family. We adore watching you through these months as you grow into a little person... always surprising us every day with how amazing you are and always making us fall just a little deeper in love with you, day after day. You are the sunshine in our world, Adalyn Rose. You are the single most beautiful thing in our lives.

Always and Forever,
Mommy
