Welcome to my blog!

Hello and thanks for stopping by! I'm a mama to my two sweet kiddos, Adalyn who is 2 and my new baby boy Mason. I started blogging after Adalyn was born as a way to write down memories for her to be able to look back at and ended up printing my first year's blog into a book so my babies have their childhood memories documented forever. By day, I'm a physical therapist. By night and weekend, I'm a loving wife to my husband Scott and a totally in love mama to my dear babies and the center of my world, Adalyn Rose and Mason Scott, along with our two furbabies. When I found out I was pregnant I knew I would "try" breastfeeding. Now that they are here, I'm a breastfeeding, babywearing, extended rearfacing, part-time co-sleeping, babyfood making, constantly researching mama. Some people call it crunchy... I call it living better for them... A little at a time! And this is our story...

Together!

Things get complicated after you have kids. Scott and I, previously, had so many things that we enjoyed doing together because, well, we had the time to do them. After kids... not so much. We still have things we enjoy doing but the "togetherness" of our free time has diminished. Now I do the things I enjoy after the kids are in bed and he does the things he enjoys doing when I'm able to keep an eye on the kids, or vice versa.

Randomly back in the late spring I decided I was going to start running. I wanted to do it more as a challenge to myself more than anything else. After a few runs, I decided it was hard, but completely necessary. I felt like a new woman after getting out of the house for 30 minutes of quiet, kid-free, stress-reducing ME time! Lucky for me, I'm super competitive, even with myself, and pushed myself every week to run a little bit further than the week before. Before I knew it I was running 10 miles. Even more important, before I knew it, Scott began running too.

We weren't able to run together... someone had to watch the kiddos, but we were able to encourage each other to hit the asphalt and cheer each other on when we got home and had gone a half mile further than our last run or run a mile faster than the run before.

One reason I wanted to start running was to prove to myself that I could. I was the girl who always said "I'm just not a runner." False. I am a runner. And I'm proud of myself for turning into one. The other reason I wanted to start running was to live a healthier lifestyle for my kids. Those two sweet faces mean the world to me, and living better for them one day at a time is one of the most important things I can do for them.

In September Scott and I ran our first 5k together. We started the race together. And although we finished the race about 2 minutes apart, we totally finished that race together. It felt so good to accomplish something together. To achieve a goal together. To be together.
