Welcome to my blog!

Hello and thanks for stopping by! I'm a mama to my two sweet kiddos, Adalyn who is 2 and my new baby boy Mason. I started blogging after Adalyn was born as a way to write down memories for her to be able to look back at and ended up printing my first year's blog into a book so my babies have their childhood memories documented forever. By day, I'm a physical therapist. By night and weekend, I'm a loving wife to my husband Scott and a totally in love mama to my dear babies and the center of my world, Adalyn Rose and Mason Scott, along with our two furbabies. When I found out I was pregnant I knew I would "try" breastfeeding. Now that they are here, I'm a breastfeeding, babywearing, extended rearfacing, part-time co-sleeping, babyfood making, constantly researching mama. Some people call it crunchy... I call it living better for them... A little at a time! And this is our story...

The Birthday Party that even a Hurricane Couldn't Ruin...

Happy 1st Birthday Adalyn Rose!

Adalyn's birthday just happened to fall on a Saturday this year as she was a Friday baby last year the day that she was born, so naturally, I wanted to celebrate her birthday on the actual day of her birth. We planned Adalyn's Bumble Bee Birthday Bash! Her invitations were sweet as can bee... get it? Bee??

They read: We can't believe a year has passed, our Addy bee has grown so fast. Buzz on over for cake and fun. RSVP to the Queen Bee (that would be me!)

I, of course, had to make her a bumble bee tutu and bumble bee antenna headband. I even went so far as to make bumble bee antenna for all the little girls at the party, although, some of the adults seemed to find them more entertaining than the kids... not mentioning any names Mom and Aunt Lin!

Goodie bags for the kids were filled with honey flavored Teddy Grahams, Bubbles in yellow jars with stickers that read "Thanks for buzzing by Adalyn's 1st birthday party" and a bumble bee craft project for the kids to do at home.

We had balloons in yellow, black and hot pink with table cloths and paper products to match. The centerpieces for the tables were bee hive cookie jars that either held the balloon bouquets or a bouquet of gerber daisies in yellow and hot pink. Unfortunately, the photo collage I had spent so much time preparing wouldn't stand up to the hurricane breeze we had that day.

Oh yeah... about that Hurricane. Adalyn's party was scheduled the day before a hurricane was scheduled to hit the east coast. So we were contending with some major weather. The entire morning before the party was overcast but dry... and breezy. During the party, we had about 20 minutes of showers... the rest of the time was dry. A few raindrops isn't enough to ruin our party!!

To eat we had chicken, pizzas, burgers, pasta salad, baked beans, dips, fruit and of course... CAKE!
Adalyn's cake was absolutely adorable!!! And she loved the icing...!!

All in all it was a great day. I felt a bit let down because of the weather and the decorations that didn't pan out. Lesson learned... all the birthday girl really cared about was the cake and toys and of course the boxes and tissue paper. Don't set your expectations so high... cause she had a great day irregardless of the decorations... or the hurricane!
